Even in hard economic times think of all we have that others do not. The minimum donation that can be made to the red cross for the Haiti Relief effort is $10.

It may not sound like much but think about how much it would help if everyone skipped a meal out or a few lattes or packs of cigarettes and sent in a donation to help Haiti instead. It feels good too.

In fact, for anyone that sends in donation to any reputable organization for Haiti and sends me a copy of the receipt (with any personal information blacked out or deleted of course) will get a coupon to one of my stores for 50% of what they donated. Donate $10 and I'll give you a coupon for $5 and so on.

Loads of Learning and a Beach Cantina!

Wow, I have really neglected my blog this month haven't I? It has been a CRAZY month! I have some great treats for you and tons of new items to talk about but first a safety message about TVs (especially older non-LCD models)

A few weeks ago my family and I were sitting and chatting in our livingroom when all of a sudden our 10-year-old Zenith television, which was turned OFF, flashed a bright light, made an ear-piercing sound, and started pouring smoke out into the room. That's right it appears that our TV blew up. Thankfully we were home. Moral of the story? If you have an older television you may want to unplug it when you are not home. Now I know there *should* be pictures to accompany this, but I was in so much shock I didn't think to grab the camera until later.

Add to that vacation in Montreal to visit family and the start of school for me and my preschooler it has been a busy month! I'm getting back into the groove though and you can expect a lot of fun things very soon. Tomorrow look for my September CU Grab Bag Reveal and if you haven't signed up for my newsletter, don't miss out because there will be a special something in there and it goes out tomorrow evening!

Colors and Journaling! Tons of new Challenges!

I have two great new challenges this month.

First, at Digiridoo Scraps come try my journaling challenge:
That's right it's July (or almost depending on your lime zone ).

I'm your happy hostess for the July Journaling Challenge and boy do I have some fun in store for you!

I want to do things a little differently this month. I want you to start thinking about the alphabet. Come up with a fun theme and create an A to Z list on a layout about your theme. Who knows maybe this could spawn an entire A to Z album for you! Try to use a few different alphas if possible to change it up some.

I cannot wait to see your layouts! Make sure you post your layout to the Digiridoo gallery and link it here so I can send you this awesome participation prize created by Kelley of Caffeine Created Designs (a little birdie mentioned there might just be a matching full kit in stores soon so look around for it ) and so we can all give you some love.

Ok for this month's photography challenge I want us to learn a little something more about our cameras so for this month I found a tutorial on white balance that we can all read over. Here's the challenge:

Read the tutorial on white balance and play around a bit with your settings. While you are playing around take a few pictures of something that reminds you of the special guy in your life. Play around with the white balance on the photos and choose your favorites. Using your favorite photos create a layout explaining why the item you photographed reminds you of your special guy. Above all else make sure you have fun with this! That is the most important part of the challenge, if we learn something new great, but make sure you have fun doing it.

Tutorial - White Balance

Post your layouts in the Digital Paper Hearts gallery and link them here in order to receive credit. You will receive 10 points for completing the challenge and an extra 5 points if you use products from the Digital Paper Hearts store to create your layout.

In addition, I will have a fun sampler for my A Day Just For Dad Kit that you will receive as a posting bonus for completing the challenge.

I have entered a ridiculous amount of competitions and hopefully I am not overextending myself too much.

I am still working on the Brownie Scraps Challenges (what an amazing group of women at that site! Check it out if you haven't yet.)

In addition I have entered the Inspiration Lane Desire 2 Inspire Contest. I'm just getting to know this site but the ladies here have been very welcoming and I love the format of the contest. It doesn't officially start until tomorrow, however many of us did a pre-contest mini to get an idea of what they are looking for at Inspiration Lane and to get some feedback on our designs.

I also entered the ScrapMatters Design Star contest and could you believe over 100 other designers also entered this contest? I have no idea if I am good enough to even make it to the next round with so much competition, but I am extremely proud of my entry. I feel it is unique and really one of the best little minis I have created so far. Unfortunately I cannot direct you specifically to my entry because the first round of the contest is a blind round (at least until you download the entries and look at the TOU).

However, the good news is I CAN direct you to a gallery filled with amazingly GORGEOUS mini kits for this contest. Since we had the same color pallette you can mix and match these kits for an absolutely AMAZING mega collab kit from some very talented ladies. At last count there were almost 50 entries in already with at least 50 more to come. Each entry has 3 papers and 3 unique elements.
